From the Director's Desk
Welcome to the UGC-Academic Staff College, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. In pursuance of our vision and mission we strive to create an intellectual who will finally shape and guide the society at large. We endeavor to promote skill in a teacher and groom him/her as a motivator and a good researcher. Higher education has opened a vast horizon of opportunities but there appears a big knowledge gap in the society which can be bridged only by the conscientious and devoted teacher. Teaching is mother of all profession but has come on the cross roads due to market forces. Howsoever inconvenient these market forces are, but the fact remains that these cannot be discarded altogether. These forces have to be taken headlong. A teacher has to update one self and prove to be a role model for the society.
Our ASC is making an effort towards shaping the young teachers by way of orientation programmes in which the focus is mainly on awareness of linkages between society, environment, development and education; Philosophy of education, Indian Education system and pedagogy; Resource awareness and knowledge generation; and Management and personality development. Apart from this, components related to IT, gender equality, media and society, Quality assurance in higher education, Capacity building are also focused.
In refresher courses the main focus is on recent advances in the subject concerned and promote research in newer and newer areas. Our ASC has a very big pool of resource persons to take up the challenge.
